Lives and works in Paris and Zurich

Vittorio Santoro develops a work that is both conceptual and referential, taking the form of installations, sculptures or drawings. He uses allusions to books, films, other works of art, historical or social events, etc. in order to explore the ways in which ideas disseminate and interfere with one another. His mixed media works are the springboard from which he constructs new narratives. Conceptually, they revolve around questions of reception and interpretation.

Santoro’s work has been exhibited at various institutions such as Kunsthaus Zürich (2015), Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Paris (2013), Paillard Centre d'art contemporain (2013), Fondation d'Entreprise Ricard (2012), Centre Pompidou, Paris (2012), Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (2011), Museum der Moderne, Salzburg (2010), Austria, Kunstmuseum Bern (2008) and Tate Modern, London (2007).

Vittorio Santoro’s works are part of many permanent collections: Kunstmuseum Bern, FNAC - Fonds National d'Art Contemporain, Paris, CAPC, France, Burger Collection, Switzerland, FRAC Aquitaine, France, Graphische Sammlung der Schweizerischen Nationalbibliothek, Bern, Kunstsammlung der Eidgenossenschaft, Bundesamt für Kultur, Bern, Kunstsammlung der Stadt Zürich, Kunstsammlung Kanton Zürich.
